Why Makeda Ridgeback Puppies?

We feed our dogs on the best quality diet with holstic food, fresh goats milk from our herd of Anglo Nubian goats and eggs from our flock of chickens. We use Dorwest Herbs to maintain peak health in our breeding dogs, combined with regular exercise on our 60 acre small holding. Our puppies get the best possible start in life to produce dogs that are strong and healthy. Both parents can be seen along with offspring from previous litters. Have a look at some of our previous pups with comments from owners here.

All puppies come with a puppy starter pack including food samples, puppy collars and leads, training pads and 4 weeks pet insurance. They are KC Reg, wormed and vet checked for health before leaving for their new homes.

We offer lifetime support and guidance for Ridgeback owners and have over 35 years experience with the breed. If for any reason, you are no longer able to look after your puppy, we will gladly have your puppy back until we can find it a new home (please note we are not able to refund any monies paid).

If you are interested in acquiring a Rhodesian Ridgeback pup, please get in touch via our contact form or ring Laura on: 07540 427089 for more details. Boys and girls available.

A note about Ridgeless Ridgebacks

It is possible for a Ridgeback to be born without the characteristic ridge of hair down the spine – about 10% of puppies born have this. At Makeda, we do not see this as a genetic fault and do not cull any puppy because of this – a common practice amongst some breeders. Puppies born without ridges should not be bred with as registered pedigree dog, as this goes against the breed standard. They still make fantastic dogs with all the characteristics of a ridgeback and deserve the same chance as any puppy to enjoy a normal, happy life. Interestingly enough, Ridgeless ridgebacks cannot get Dermoid Sinus – a condition sometimes seen in puppies with Ridges. At Makeda, we always check our puppies for Dermoid Sinus problems.
